Basic information about Prague City Hall
Prague City Hall consists of the director of city hall and other employees of the Capital City of Prague located in this body. The city hall is headed by the director of the city hall, who is superior of all employees of the Capital City of Prague assigned to the city hall.
City hall in independent authority of the Capital City of Prague carries out tasks given by the Prague Assemmbly or by the City Council of the Capital City of Prague and executes devolved authority of the Capital City of Prague, unless this is assigned to other bodies of the Capital City of Prague by law.
City hall:
- controls decisions released in administrative actions by bodies of metropolitan districts, if this activity is not entrusted to a special body by law or if a special law does not state otherwise,
- administers the execution of devolved authority by metropolitan districts; organizes and implements controls of selected sectors of delegated competencies of metropolitan districts, evaluates their results, and takes the necessary actions to correct insufficiencies,
- imposes sanctions by law regarding the Capital City of Prague,
- ensures development and operation of the information system of city hall and the offices of metropolitan districts compatible with information systems of administrative authorities,
- participates in the professional training of employees assigned to city hall and metropolitan district offices in order to complete an exam of special professional qualifications,
- controls abidance of government resolutions in the activities of metropolitan district offices with regard to delegated competencies and provides them with professional help,
- executes other activities entrusted to it by law
The basic organization of the city hall is divisions which are further subdivided into departments, special organizational units also form a part of the city hall.
